Construction of Oak framed buildings

Because we use oak and traditional building methods, we have an inherent flexibility in construction. In fact the way we work is to supply what you want, in various forms from just the frame right the way up to the complete package. This also means that we can work to your exact specifications, including the frame, roof rafters, roof covering and boarding, all hand crafted from British Oak. We can even supply matching doors and window frames if you need.

Depending on how you want to work, we at Acorn can craft your oak building and supply it to you in a kit form for you to erect yourself. Alternatively we can bring our expertise and professionalism in to manage the entire project, from foundations up.

Our comprehensive project management package will include a survey of the location and ground conditions of the site you plan to have your oak framed building erected. This will be requested by the planning authority and it will determine if there are any potential issues which will need to be preempted. The structural survey will also determine how best to lay the foundations. If we are only supplying the building in kit form, we can still offer advice on getting a professional survey carried out.

Although we will employ machinery in preparing the foundations, as well as transporting the materials to the site and handling them into position, the actual crafting of the wood is mostly done by hand. We use traditional carpentry methods to construct your oak framed building, this way we can be sure that you get what you want and that what we build will last.
